Torn Denim 04:21
Ry - Torn Denim Lyrics Intro Chorus x 1: I had a dream late the other night, but it was just a glimpse/ We were on the Ivory Coast tomorrow, I saw our footprints/ You see I'm cold in my heart, need something to warm it up, around you/ And I been reaching for the stars, I always thought it was hard till I found you/ Verse 1: And I don't ever know, how the story unfolds/ Try to take it in slow, while I’m out on road/ I don’t know any of these faces, I’m playing these shows/ Whilst I’m surrounded by their praises, I'm feeling alone/ These people thinking it's easy, I resent the most/ While I'm doing every single thing just so i stay afloat/ Pre-written most of my letters, to my acceptance toast/ If you ain’t with me now, then don’t expect no fucking letters home/ It’s just me myself and I, while I'm in my zone/ Eyes, on an empty throne / Ry’s, kinda empty though/ Life’s, kinda different chasing women in expensive clothes/ Why is people telling me I’m tripping when it’s set in stone?/ (Verse outro) But I guess it's a journey/ I said fuck the destination, enjoy it but at the moment it hurts me/ Cos you know I'm trying to make it, the problem is I ain't made it/ I'm lonely/ Wish I could give you the old me/ Chorus: I had a dream late the other night, but it was just a glimpse/ We were on the Ivory Coast tomorrow, I saw our footprints/ You see I'm cold in my heart, need something to warm it up, around you/ And I been reaching for the stars, I always thought it was hard till I found you/ Do you know where I'm coming from? Tell me you know, you know, you know/ That's all I want/ Tell me you know, you know, you know/ Ain't nothing wrong/ Tell me you know, you know, you know/ 'Cos we only got this shot, so tell me it's what you want now/ (Repeat chant) I know you’re feeling exhausted…/ They confuse me with their talking, see I’m all about us walking, tonight/ Wearing torn denim, sipping on the cheapest of wine/ Verse 2: They think got me now, but I’m not overwhelmed/ I’m way too focused, ain’t got many thoughts floating around/ 'Cos my intentions in direction of leaving this town/ So if you plan on staying, hope you know that I’m dragging you out/ Still need you around as someone to hold me in check/ I'm writing songs about advice that I know I'll forget/ I’m spending nights with all these friends that I’m told to neglect I'm sick and tired of becoming something I’m scared to resent/ Bridges I should of burnt, still keeping us close/ So whisper to me things, that I never needed to know/ Yeah, counting my blessings and shaking these hands/ With these people that used to question I’m taking a chance/ Chorus x 1 Verse Outro x 1 ‘Cos I had a dream late the other night, but it was just a glimpse… © R. Verse 1: Things ain’t the same no more, I don’t know/ Packed up my shit girl, then I went home/ Don’t mean to be disrespectful, you better find room mates/ Since I moved it’s painful/ And I’m swerving, sippin’ red in this rental/ Slipping into this mind space, a dark place and I’m mental/ Look back on things that we dreamed of/ Came so close to holding, it slipped through my fingers/ Like quicksand, we slowly drown/ Pre-Chorus: But you should think twice, before I just let it slide/ You know I won’t let it happen/ They say we’re tumbling down, when we ain’t gonna drown/ Its the perfect distraction/ What did they think we came for/ This ain’t no cake walk, well I’m taking action/ Nobodies taking my place, you know I’m saving it now/ Chorus: With Lightning in a Bottle, Lightning in a Bottle/ Lightning in a Bottle tonight/ She want Lightning in a Bottle, Lightning in a Bottle/ The only way we’re making it right/ We’re making it right girl/ If you could find me now, you would see that I’m waiting/ And I made some changes/ Wish you could trust the night, on this thing that we’re making/ This could be dangerous/ So don’t ever tell me, we never did try/ Don’t ever tell me/ Oh woah, oh woah oh/ Verse 2: Ain’t been the same now since you gone/ They tell me it’s time to move on/ Well fuck them, ‘cos what good do they know/ We built an empire, and I’m supposed to let go/ Like it’s nothing, like we just went and gave up/ Like they ain’t seen us burning, ain’t nothing here to save us/ I guess that our stomach’s were smaller, than our appetites was/ And you’re my achilles, it kills me to walk off, now/ Pre-Chorus x 1 Chorus x 1 © R. about

I released this EP digitally in May 2015 and thought it was only right that I upload it to Bandcamp eventually.
