about

I released this EP digitally in May 2015 and thought it was only right that I upload it to Bandcamp eventually.

I spent roughly 12months working on this EP whilst juggling other projects and couldn't be happier with it. To whoever got it - Thank You and I hope to see you all at a show soon.

Track Name: Torn Denim
Ry - Torn Denim Lyrics

Intro Chorus x 1:

I had a dream late the other night, but it was just a glimpse/
We were on the Ivory Coast tomorrow, I saw our footprints/
You see I'm cold in my heart, need something to warm it up, around you/
And I been reaching for the stars, I always thought it was hard till I found you/

Verse 1:

And I don't ever know, how the story unfolds/
Try to take it in slow, while I’m out on road/
I don’t know any of these faces, I’m playing these shows/
Whilst I’m surrounded by their praises, I'm feeling alone/

These people thinking it's easy, I resent the most/
While I'm doing every single thing just so i stay afloat/
Pre-written most of my letters, to my acceptance toast/
If you ain’t with me now, then don’t expect no fucking letters home/

It’s just me myself and I, while I'm in my zone/
Eyes, on an empty throne / Ry’s, kinda empty though/
Life’s, kinda different chasing women in expensive clothes/
Why is people telling me I’m tripping when it’s set in stone?/

(Verse outro)

But I guess it's a journey/
I said fuck the destination, enjoy it but at the moment it hurts me/
Cos you know I'm trying to make it, the problem is I ain't made it/
I'm lonely/
Wish I could give you the old me/

Chorus:

I had a dream late the other night, but it was just a glimpse/
We were on the Ivory Coast tomorrow, I saw our footprints/
You see I'm cold in my heart, need something to warm it up, around you/
And I been reaching for the stars, I always thought it was hard till I found you/

Do you know where I'm coming from?
Tell me you know, you know, you know/
That's all I want/
Tell me you know, you know, you know/
Ain't nothing wrong/
Tell me you know, you know, you know/
'Cos we only got this shot, so tell me it's what you want now/

(Repeat chant)

I know you’re feeling exhausted…/
They confuse me with their talking, see I’m all about us walking, tonight/
Wearing torn denim, sipping on the cheapest of wine/

Verse 2:

They think got me now, but I’m not overwhelmed/
I’m way too focused, ain’t got many thoughts floating around/
'Cos my intentions in direction of leaving this town/
So if you plan on staying, hope you know that I’m dragging you out/

Still need you around as someone to hold me in check/
I'm writing songs about advice that I know I'll forget/
I’m spending nights with all these friends that I’m told to neglect
I'm sick and tired of becoming something I’m scared to resent/

Bridges I should of burnt, still keeping us close/
So whisper to me things, that I never needed to know/
Yeah, counting my blessings and shaking these hands/
With these people that used to question I’m taking a chance/

Chorus x 1

Verse Outro x 1

Track Name: The Parking Lot (Feat. Scarlett Rush)
Ry - The Parking Lot Lyrics

Intro Chorus:

Yeah, and we're celebrating, so push everything aside/
Hypnotised lately, I guess you been on my mind/
Forgetting time lately, we're just cruising through the night/
Do what it takes so I arrive, I know you got in your ride, boy/

Mixtapes with good songs, Mixed drinks we drank some/
I don't where this could go, so grab cups and pour up/
Something bout your aura, so meet me in our corner/
I don't know how this one ends, but maybe we find out until it/

Verse 1:

Call my number no response, call you back when I’m on lunch/
See I got this part-time job, where I can’t get the weekends off/
When I knock off, and the weekend starts/
Party first, then sleep comes last/
I ain’t seen you for weeks apart, so I’m making sure that we meet up/

I ain’t used to this of course, hope that this don’t seem too forced/
See you in our usual spots, call my friends and you call yours/
Let me know the time, let me know the time/
You know you’re my type and we ain’t seen each other quite some time/

Chorus x 1

(Scarlett Rush)
Yeah, and we're celebrating, so push everything aside/
Hypnotised lately, I guess you been on my mind/
Forgetting time lately, we're just cruising through the night/
Do what it takes so I arrive, I know you got in your ride, boy/

(Ry)
Mixtapes with good songs, Mixed drinks we drank some/
I don't where this could go, so grab cups and pour up/
Something bout your aura, so meet me in our corner/
I don't know how this one ends, but maybe we find out until it/

(Scarlett & Ry)
All goes wrong/
Listen up I’ll tell you what/
Party in the parking lot/
So meet me in our favourite spot, tonight/

Verse 2:

Dialing up your digits now, at the front - you sneaking out?/
All your girlfriends keeping quiet, creeping out your parents house/
Almost there, it’s not long now, we can talk while walking down/
Blocks away you hear the sound, play that music fuckin’ loud/

Trunk is thumping, party jumping, all that work amount to something/
I ain’t frontin’, you look like you’re used to all this like it’s nothing/
Let me know you’re mine, let me know you’re mine/
I don’t think those signs were intended for those other guys/

Verse 3 / Changeup

Mixtapes with good songs/
Mixed drinks we drank some/
Grab cups and pour up/
Something bout your aura/

You know our situation ain’t that bad/
You make it out just like we’re made to crash/
I’m so confused by where your brain is at/
You said you hate me but I swear there ain’t no truth to that/

You know the truth but ain’t taking it back/
Cutting me off, but ain’t cutting me slack/
The couple we hate we’re becoming like that and I’m starting to hate what you label me as/

We’re making out on your parent’s couch/
At least this time their fine, because they know about your where abouts/
Heard you saw him by word of mouth/
Heard you love me by word of mouth/
I’m trippin’ and shit, tearing you down/
‘Cos I know you’re tied to these fairy tales/

Hold your hair while you exhale/
You’re so scared, weak and frail/
Off the rails, this seats good/
If you really want - then we can bail/

I won’t fail, I’m so in tune what I got to try make it out/
She’s no fool - her eyes where open that last time we’re making out/
Build me up then shoot me down, help you down from this lone high/
I’m crucified by being yours - but it’s better than these lonely nights/

Outro Singing (Scarlett)

Track Name: Gimme That (Feat. Jordan De La Cruz)
Intro Chorus (Jordan De La Cruz):

Give me that, that, that soul
Give me that rock n roll
Give me everything you got
Everything I want, now

Get you’re ass on, that floor
Let me see you lose control
Gimme everything you got
Everything I want, now

Verse 1 (Ry):

They said it takes two to tango
And we're both unchained like Django
Say your stressed out, I guess we're in the same boat, so
Move like you wanna lose the tempo

Look at you all dressed up
Wondering why a kid still ain't compliment you yet?
Isabel Marant wedge and an all black dress
I'm waiting for you to let go of all that stress

And I'll tell you, right before we're winding down
Right before you're walking into Ryan's house
Right before we finish up wining and dining round
Before we finish up wildin’ out

At the venue, girls - I can't trust some
Shouts to the rich ones, living off trust funds
Try to cuff Ry, that ain't love hun
But show me that soul, then I'm sold in an instant

Chorus:

Give me that, that, that soul
Give me that rock n roll
Give me everything you got
Everything I want, now

Get you’re ass on, that floor
Let me see you lose control
Gimme everything you got
Everything I want, now

I want to hear the music in summer air
I want to dance with different women every day
I want to do it cos I'm living fancy free
Give me that and I'll give you this
One way ticket the endless bliss

Verse 2:

You're, picture perfect, Mona Lisa, these
Girls hate cos they're so beneath ya
Walk into the room, you're still the main feature, 'cos you
Heat it up like the finest diva

It's been a long week, you're just planning to let go
Most of these guys, need to give it a rest though
Forget about the club, we could talk all evening
The nights still young, hope your not leaving

As good as you look like young Liz Taylor
If looks could kill, you would be high danger
Even at home chillin with no make up
Argue on the phone just so we can make up

On the floor of our living room
Eating Japanese food with our rent past due, so
Girl if you wanna make guys swoon
Then, let it all go dance around in your room like

Bridge:

Gimme that, you're on my mind, come on over and rock my world now
Take me to paradise, you're on fire we could turn the lights out

Said you're gonna give me this, said you're gonna give me that
And I, really really wanna see you dance, 'cos I like the way you, like the way you!

Chorus x 1

Track Name: Neon (Part I)
Verse 1:

Miami Vice in my second-hand ride/
Tinted - looking like it’s straight from ’85/
We got Neon lights like it’s going out of style/
Been ruckus all my life, I could never settle down/

Beat Jordan 3’s, I don’t even keep ‘em clean/
Hoodie and my jacket denim, I got venom for the beats/
Nothing’s what it seems, so just tell me what you see/
In this pair of faded jeans, we just chasing better things, ah yeah/

Running till we’re exhausted/
Top down looking like my own Farah Fawcett/
The land of broken dreams, Dad never had Porsches/
Making fun of rich kids, from the city of orphans/

Let me know that we ain’t going back/
Just make a vow we ain’t going home/
808’s playing, we ain’t ashamed/
Riding through the city now, call it victory lane/

Chorus:

Bright Lights in our city, Neon/
Days seem long so the night’s cruise/
They don’t know the feeling, that we on/
All alone in our world, that is so true/

Some thing’s on my mind, I can’t wait forever/
These days fly right by, so let’s fly together/

Ah woah oh ohh, Woah oh oh ohhh/
(And you know that we’re singing like)
Ah woah oh ohh, Woah oh oh ohhh/
(Blowin' smoke to the city light)

Ah woah oh ohh, Woah oh oh ohhh/
(And you know that we’re singing like)
Ah woah oh ohh, Woah oh oh ohhh/
(Blowin' smoke to the city light)

Verse 2:

Looking like my Dad from the seventies/
Denim shirt, denim bag, denim everything/
Surrounded by a world full of Vanity/
Hated where we’re placed, so we’re living in a fantasy/

Centrefold gold, you’re my wildest dream/
Before the shit went gold, you were riding with me/
You said we’re gonna make it, I’m just dying to see/
Bright light’s in the city, it could light up the streets/

Shotgun sitting, with my girl steering/
Beaten up ride but we ooze cool/
Bright drink in this cup, that my boys sippin’/
I know who’s around before this shit blew/

Driving down Sunset with no fuel/
Can’t afford Rodeo but we will soon/
Skipping school in the park, playing Grinspoon/
Oh when the P’s find out, they ‘bout to ground you/

Chorus x 1

Outro:

Let your hair down, let it down/
Let it breathe, you should let it out/
Don’t ever tell me that you wish we were formal/
These people spend their whole lives tryin’ to be formal/

(I ain’t tryin’ to be formal)

Track Name: Neon (Part II)
Verse 1:

Driving ‘round my old streets/
Stress relief, coolin’ out/
Might play a few demo’s when I cruise around/
Trying to prove to my girl that we’re moving out/

Riding ‘round with no seat belts/
Seats down I’m on cloud 9/
Death to all my innocence/
No fair trail - no alibi/

The anthem now for a problem child/
The answer for anyone who wanted out/
Poster boy for these misfits/
Artistic - my whole sound/

Which brand should I rock today?/
Young prince, that purple rain/
Young kids - they won’t get that/
But I get rap, like purple tapes/

Chorus x 1

Neon, Neon, Neon lights - what?/
Neon, Neon, Neon lights - Uhh/
Neon, Neon, Neon lights - what?/
Neon, Neon, Neon lights - Uhh/

Verse 2:

90’s child in APC’s/
Worked all week just to afford them/
I scrubbed walls, I mopped floors/
Sacrilege in my beaten Jordan’s/

This highway ain’t got our answers/
In this mindstate, I’ll take my chances/
This hometown’s grown sort of average/
‘Cos this rap dreams like a foreign language/

Frustrated youth, frustrated youth/
Fading slow, but I made it through/
Better take a breathe, we’re falling fast/
But this buzz of mine? Straight through the roof/

She takes the wheel, while I change songs/
Chain smoke in Saint Laurent/
Laying low, near Neon lights/
Then park the ride, where it’s closed off/

Chorus x 1

Track Name: Ordinary Record
Verse 1:

This ain’t no ordinary record/
This ain’t no ordinary record/
I guess it’s just the type that you be playing every second/
Securing my place, I’m just praying to be mentioned, Lord!/

I gotta do this for my parents/
65 soon, pray their pension is protected/
My girl looking at me like I better get a mention/
She’s wanting those McCartney’s, so I have to make a Lennon/

And not some Ordinary Record/
Said that I was crazy for this work and all this effort/
I’m told the ones who make it really is a small percentage/
As for negative opinions, never took into perspective/

Beat this game boy, found a lane in all the Tetris/
It’s a celebration, look who made it through the wreckage, yeah/
This ain’t no ordinary record/
If I’m talking for the record, I’m a force to be wreckoned, what’s up?/

Chorus Part 1:

Tell the truth to me, please don’t ever lie/
‘Cos I’m feeling all this pressure, still I got to take my time, what sup?
I said victory is mine/
How I handle all this pressure, confidence my only crime/

Verse 2:

This ain’t no ordinary record/
This ain’t no ordinary record!/
This is for the people and the fans who represent it/
I appreciate your time, I’ll make the most of your attention/

It’s a celebration - know we out here living reckless/
Making memories of nights, that will never be remembered/
Having conversations, that I never recollected/
People lying to my face, but somehow I’m not affected/

Still a couple names, that will question my direction/
Soon as shit be popping off - they hit me up like ‘yo lets get it’/
And that’s for up and comers to the ones with all the credit/
And unless you’re in my circle, I make no effort to check it/

Hamley tell ‘em:
They don’t make 'ordinary records’, nah/
We don’t make ordinary records/
Nothing ordinary about it, if we did you wouldn’t check it/
Why the fuck you listening? You contradict yourself in seconds/

Yeah, they got ordinary records/
You got about your business, we’re just doing something different/
You can jump on board, or best be swimming with the fishes/
I ain’t never had a choice - it’s either this or washing dishes/

Quit reaching for my sneaker soles/
I thought I told you get some decent clothes/
A different rapper, ain’t no ordinary message/
And I guess it took a while, now they finally start to get it, whats up?/

Chorus Part 2:

Been waiting all this time/
I feel we’re almost there/
Been waiting all this time/
I feel we’re almost there/

Verse 3:

This ain’t no ordinary record/
This ain’t no ordinary record/
I ain’t servicing this song, I’m only going back for seconds/
This is a quick reflection, this is not for music directors/
This is not for the label, or dudes putting out the record/
I purely mean that for real, I don’t mean it as disrespectful/

I’m Ali - only winner without a medal/
That’ll change soon - me and Hamley are going mental/
Like Britney in her breakdown, my ‘Breakdown’ was a hit single/
Still feel like it kinda missed you - somebody just ducked a missile/

These people think it’s a joke, like we ain’t really involved/
Like I ain’t working a job to support the shit that I wrote/
Like I ain’t booking promoters and paying them through the nose/
Like I ain’t hit up artists I love to open for them at shows/

And honestly, I’m fucking stoked/
Addicted to this momentum, did I mention I’m fucking close?/
This ain’t no ordinary record/

Track Name: Lightning In A Bottle
Verse 1:

Things ain’t the same no more, I don’t know/
Packed up my shit girl, then I went home/
Don’t mean to be disrespectful, you better find room mates/
Since I moved it’s painful/

And I’m swerving, sippin’ red in this rental/
Slipping into this mind space, a dark place and I’m mental/
Look back on things that we dreamed of/
Came so close to holding, it slipped through my fingers/
Like quicksand, we slowly drown/

Pre-Chorus:

But you should think twice, before I just let it slide/
You know I won’t let it happen/
They say we’re tumbling down, when we ain’t gonna drown/
Its the perfect distraction/

What did they think we came for/
This ain’t no cake walk, well I’m taking action/
Nobodies taking my place, you know I’m saving it now/

Chorus:

With Lightning in a Bottle, Lightning in a Bottle/
Lightning in a Bottle tonight/
She want Lightning in a Bottle, Lightning in a Bottle/
The only way we’re making it right/

We’re making it right girl/

If you could find me now, you would see that I’m waiting/
And I made some changes/
Wish you could trust the night, on this thing that we’re making/
This could be dangerous/

So don’t ever tell me, we never did try/

Don’t ever tell me/

Oh woah, oh woah oh/

Verse 2:

Ain’t been the same now since you gone/
They tell me it’s time to move on/
Well fuck them, ‘cos what good do they know/
We built an empire, and I’m supposed to let go/

Like it’s nothing, like we just went and gave up/
Like they ain’t seen us burning, ain’t nothing here to save us/
I guess that our stomach’s were smaller, than our appetites was/
And you’re my achilles, it kills me to walk off, now/
